About this Blog
Though Eastern Christianity in all its forms--Byzantine Orthodox, Eastern Catholic, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Assyrian Church of the East--has never had the same level of scholarly attention as the West, that has been rapidly changing over the last quarter-century. Today, hundreds of books are published each year devoted to all aspects of Eastern Christianity--liturgy, history, iconography, cultural context, etc. Additionally, hundreds of books devoted to certain themes or Western issues also regularly include at least one section devoted to Eastern voices. This blog aims to keep track of many of these new, recent, and cognate publications, focusing overwhelmingly on scholarly publications, some of whose authors I periodically interview. I generally ignore self-published works, works published via vanity presses, and works that are overly apologetic, polemical, or populist.
